Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve put together a list of our most commonly asked questions about our shelf and contact paper products. We will continue to add more questions as we keep adding new products. Feel free to drop us a line or email if you don’t see what you’re looking for on this page.

Q: Can Chic Shelf Paper handle special colors, special orders or other adjustments to your standard products and can you make shelf paper with an image I provide?

Yes, please send us an email and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. [email protected]

Q: Do any of your products contain PVCs?

A:  Yes, our Laminated Vinyl product and lamination films are both made with PVCs to provide suppleness and pliability.

If you want a PVC-free alternative, we recommend any of our other products:  Matte Paper, Fine Weave Fabric.

The list of products in our society made from PVC is exhaustive, and we are following the arguments made by both sides of PVC debate. The biggest health concerns center around manufacturing with PVCs, which is why you may note that the EPA recently imposed stricter guidelines for manufacturers. (Chic Shelf Paper does not manufacture the films used in our products.)

We continue to search for eco-friendly alternatives, a goal since our inception.

Q: How can I save my favorite Chic Shelf Paper designs?

First, click on the design or pattern you like.

You will see a small red heart with the words “Add to Favorites” below the Start My Order button. Create an account and save your favorite designs in it.

You can view them later on when you sign in to your account.

Q:  Will adhesive residue remain when I remove the Chic Shelf Paper liner?

A:  Generally no, we have designed our products to be re-positionable and removable. This is the case with most new cabinet or furniture construction. However, there are some caveats.

Certain factors can influence separation of the glue from the substrate — primarily if there are organic compounds in the surface finish. For example, we recommend 30 days curing time for new paint and 60 days for wood finishes. Some finishes may contain organic solvents, oils and colorants that can soften the adhesive and make it difficult to remove.  Old or aged surfaces are more likely to have organic compounds present.   But all situations are unique, so we recommend ordering a free sample and testing before application if this is a concern.

Q:  Some adhesive is left when I remove the liner.  How can I remove it?

A: Either rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) or denatured alcohol (available in the cleaning section at most hardware stores) should easily clean the surface. For more tips, visit Remove Shelf Paper.

Q: How do I find a status or information about my order?

Simply log in to: www.ChicShelfPaper.com/myaccount and your orders are listed at the top of your account page as well as status.

Q: Do you offer scented shelf-liners?

Not at this time.

Q: I don’t have a street address, can you make special arrangements?

Yes, please send us an email and we will do our best to accommodate your situation. [email protected]
